Once You're able to posses & display Sincere Happiness for others in the midst of Your unhappiness it's then that You'll release the karma necessary to find joy in Your Own life.  When You find Yourself on the way down extend a helping hand to someone else & elevate them.  The way We Live Good, Bad or Indifferent is like yelling into a cave & what We receive is nothing more than an echo; TEN fold what We put forth.
